“My Cracow” - a photo competition
A coffee in the alley of doubting Thomas, musical band on the Slawkowska Corner, “Pope, priest, national flag”...
It´s not the first time that out students surprise us with their originality and insight in the way of looking at Cracow.
The photo competition that we organised, called „How do you see Cracow”, has been quite popular. We received a great number of interesting pictures from different subject matters – we are glad that we also form part of your Cracow memories.
It was very hard to choose the best work between so many good ones. After many large debates we decided to pick out Julia´s photo (you can see it on our Facebook page). The picture presents a shop window where Jim Morrison´s photo is displayed next to the John Paul II´s one, and above, watching the two of them, there are Hassidic statuettes carved in the wood.
Julia described it very clearly why she had chosen this particular photo:
“(...) The photo was taken somewehere in Kazimierz. There you can find many details that present how various are the Poles and Poland. The strong Christian faith and the Catholic tradition embodied in John Paul II. The difficult and tragic history of Jews in the Hassidic statuettes. A small antiquarian bookshop is a comeback to fascinating and charming times. The power of youth and contemporaneity in the portrait of Jim Morrison ;) (…)”
Congratulations once again, also on the prize. We hope you will make the best use of it ;) and we will be able to see it for ourselves live soon.
Opinions
I am listening to the CD I got from you and I would like to thank you once again, not only for the CD, but for the two weeks I spent in Kraków! Thanks to you I had a fresh and thorough look at the extraordinary place. Unfortunately, two weeks are not enough to explore the whole city, and that's why I'm all the more happy about my next visit. Right now I know that if I need any information about Kraków's cultural or night life, I have someone to turn to.
