Conditions for intensive summer courses

§ 1 CREATION OF THE GROUPS, ORGANIZATIONAL GROUND RULES

  1.  The enrolment for the course is held by filling in the application form (on-line or at the School’s office) and transferring the fee for the course. Paying the fee and receiving a confirmation results in the acceptance of those Regulations. The Regulations are constituents of the Agreement, which is signed by every student during the enrolment.
     
  2. To define the language level of the Student, she/he needs to complete a test and go through an interview with a teacher. It does not apply to:
    1. Students beginning their Polish language study for the first time
    2. Students who continue their studies at Varia
    3. Students who have achieved a certificate from a previous level at the School or possess an international certificate in Polish language.
       
  3. On the webpage www.kurspolskiego.pl Varia School provides the Students with a possibility to take a free placement test.
     
  4. The groups are created based on the Students’ language experience, age and individual needs.
     
  5. It is possible to change the group for the one on a higher or a lower level in some justified cases, on the condition that the teacher is positive about the change and the Student agrees on it with the School’s Office.
     
  6. The courses are organised in the well-equipped classrooms by qualified Teachers.
     
  7. The School reserves a right to change the Teacher in the middle of the course given the important organizational reasons.
     
  8. The School requires Students to be punctual, actively participate in lessons and prepare to the lessons. It is forbidden to interfere in a class, use a mobile phone or any other equipment that disrupts the group's work. Student must not behave in any way that is contrary to the norms of social coexistence, in particular regarding religious and national feelings.
     
  9. The School does not reimburse any payments for absences.
     
  10. In case of a Teacher's illness, technical issues or other unforeseen circumstances, the School organizes a substitution or postpones the classes to another date suitable for all the Students.
     
  11. The School reserves a right to record lessons for the didactic purposes. The recordings will be used only for the School’s purposes without sharing or distributing them to the third parties.
     
  12. The course is appropriate for the Students over 15 years old.
     
  13. The number of Students in a group can vary from 4 to 12.
     
  14. In case of any suggestions or remarks please contact your Teacher, the Office or the Management.

 

§ 2 PRICE, NUMBER OF CLASSES, ORGANISATION OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE COURSE

  1. Students are required to pay for the whole course in advance or to pay in instalments in accordance to an offer of the School.
     
  2. The price of the course will not be changed during the course.
     
  3. The Students are required to pay for the course in advance or to pay in two instalments. Payment in two instalments does not influence the price for the course.
    1. The first instalment should be paid until the third day after applying for the course. However, it should be done no later than on the first day of the course.
    2. The remaining amount needs to be paid according to the deadlines available on the website: www.kurspolskiego.pl (semester courses tab).

  1. All bank fees should be paid by the Student.
     
  2. The price includes:
    1. 4 classes every day from Monday to Friday (9:30 – 12:45 with 15minutes break included)*
    2. Teaching materials
    3. Placement test
    4. Certificate, progress report
    5. Cultural programme (among others an integration party and a language workshop)

*The number of the classes depends of the number of the Students in the group:

  • From 4 to 12 Students in the group – 20 classes in a week (4 classes daily)
  • From 2 to 3 Students in the group – 15 classes in a week (3 classes daily)

On the first day of the course, the beginners group starts classes at 10:00 a.m. The Students who have been learning Polish before take a placement test – oral and/or written – based on which they are assigned to the groups. All the groups except the beginners one start their classes on the next day. The assignment to the groups should be announced in the evening of the first day during the integration party.

  1. For the Students who join the group in the middle of the course, the price is calculated individually.

 

§ 3 CERTIFICATIONS, TESTS,  CONFIRMATIONS

  1. The course ends with a test that verifies the progress of each Student.
     
  2. To obtain a certificate from the course a student has to take part in at least 60% of lessons during the semester course and obtain positive grade from the final test (over 60%).
     
  3. A Student goes to the course on the next level on the conditions of passing the final test (60%), attending the lessons (at least 60% attendance rate), regular preparation of homework, active participation in the course and positive opinion of the teacher about the Student’s work and his/her progress.
     
  4. On request, we prepare confirmation of registration to the course, which can facilitate obtaining residence card or visa.

 

§ 4  RESIGNATION

  1. In case a Student wants to resign from the course, he/she needs to provide the School with a written resignation from the course. Then the settlement is held in accordance to the rules stated in  § 4, point 2 of those Regulations.
     
  2. The resignation regulations:
    1. In case the resignation is made over a week before the start of the course, the School reimburse the whole payment subtracting the administrative fee (150 PLN).
    2. In case a resignation from the course is made in the week leading up to the beginning of the course or on the starting day, the Student who paid the full payment is reimbursed the amount reduced by the down payment (550 PLN).
    3. In case of the resignation from the course after the first day of the course, the payment is not reimbursed.
       
  3. In case a Student does not pay the second instalment in due time or the latest 2 days after the due date, he/she loses the right to attend the classes until settlement of the bill in accordance to those Regulations. A Student who does not pay the second instalment and stops attending the classes is still under the Agreement and is committed to its rules.
     
  4. In case the School provides the student with a confirmation of application, on base of which he or she applies for a visa or residence permit, and afterwards the Student resigns from the course, then the down payment is not reimbursed, regardless of the date of the resignation. If the Student has paid the full amount for the course, then he or she is reimbursed the amount reduced by the down payment accordingly to § 4 point  2


§ 5 DISCOUNTS

§ 6 RECLAMATION

  1. The right to claim the reclamation is granted to any Student. The reclamation can refer to the teaching methods and/or organizational issues.
     
  2. A reclamations can be made:
    1. At the office of Center of Polish Language Varia (Michałowskiego 2/3 street, 31-126 Kraków) in the written form
    2. Via e-mail to the address: info@kurspolskiego.pl
       
  3. The accurate complain should include:
    1. The personal data of the Student (name, surname, address, mail)
    2. Description of the situation causing the complaint
    3. Student’s demand on how he/she wishes that his/her case is resolved
       
  4. The reclamation should be made no later than 7 (seven) days from the event causing the complaint.
     
  5. The School has 7 (seven) days to consider the case from the moment of receiving the complaint.
     
  6. The Student will be informed on the way of resolving the issue via e-mail or phone call.
     
  7. The refund should be agreed with the Student on particular case.

 

§7 INSURANCE

  1. Before coming to Poland, a participant should obtain travel and health insurance that is valid abroad.

 

§8 ACCOMMODATION

  1. Varia can organize an accommodation for the course.
     
  2. Prices vary according to the type of accommodation and a number of the days. The cost of the accommodation is added to the basic price of the course.
     
  3. Prices on the school website https://www.kurspolskiego.pl/pl/Kursy_polskiego/intensywne-kursy-wakacyjne?t=27 refer to accommodation for 13 nights, from Sunday (the day before the start of the course) to Saturday (the day after the end of the course). It is possible to book accommodation for a non-standard period, for example, for one week of the course.
     
  4. The price does not include meals.
     
  5. In case of booking the accommodation, the Student needs to pay the down payment, which covers 50% of the whole price. In case of a resignation from the accommodation, the down payment is not reimbursed. The rest of the payment should be made one week before the start of the course.
     
  6. In case of booking the accommodation in the week leading to the course, the whole payment needs to made at once.
     
  7. In case of a resignation from accommodation more than one week before the start of the course, Student is reimbursed 50% of the paid fee.
     
  8. In case of a resignation from the accommodation during the week leading to the course, the payment is not reimbursed.
